Summer is ending let's get ready for the Fall

Well this summer has been an exciting one. I hope you all have gone out and found some fish. Hopefully you have expanded your skills and targeted some new species of fish.

There is still good trout fishing right now even though the thermometer is reading 100. Being that water of Putah Creek is 51 degrees year round those fish will feed all throughout the day. Give us a call if you would like to learn how to fish the creek at its high flows.

Come September the water will be dropping tremendously throughout the fall. This is the time to fish the creek before the spawn. These fish have not seen much pressure during the summer so they are pretty eager to take a fly. Plus all those zones that are unfishable during the summer become wadeable. Get booked early as we get pretty booked up during the fall.

We are adding some new rivers to our arsenal for guiding. The North, South, and Middle fork of the American River. There are some great options for trout fishing on each of these rivers and they do not see a lot of pressure. I have been fishing these rivers hard for the past couple of years getting them dialed to bring guests out to try there skills. Trout of all sizes can be had out here. They are tough to fish in the summer with the unsteady flows for rafting. Come September they mellow out and get really good for fishing.

The Yuba River is also a great fall fishery. The salmon start to stack up and those fish get fat on eggs. There is still good dry fly action to have right now. Off the Hook guide Dave Barbieri is one of the best guides for that river.
