Steelhead Season is on!

Steelhead have finally found their way into California's coastal rivers with the recent torrential rains. The rivers blew out of course but are finally dropping into shape. There is a heart pounding wild California Steelhead out there with your name on it.

Yosemite Range of Light

Take a couple minutes from your day to watch this outstanding piece (do it in full screen). Any stress you are dealing with in your will be knocked down a notch or two after this.

Now is the time to hit Pyramid. The weather is getting more predictable and slightly warmer.

Excellent fly fishing for Steelhead continues on California's North Coast

The past week on California's north coast was another good one for Steelhead. The water was lower and clearer than I would have liked it. Just like any steelhead river.. The lower it gets the more difficult the fishing tends to be. Word must have been out because there were lots of boats as well. Despite the traffic we were averaging 8 hook-ups a day.

There was an even mix of fresh fish and kelts. The fish were a little smaller than last week .. Good thing is that meant more in the net :) Rain showed up on Tuesday and continued through Thursday afternoon. Most rivers blew out and are already dropping back in.

Wild Steel!!!Wild Steel!!!

This could be the last hurrah ....!!!!!

Let's fish,

Lower Sac is on!

The lower Sacramento has been fishing really well lately! It doesn’t hurt that there have been lots of Caddis, Blue Wing Olives and PMDs hatching.

John Dietz at The Fly Shop in Redding encouraged us to pick up a few dries when we were in the shop this week! And right he was! Small dark winter Caddis were hatching in the morning along with some PMDs followed by Mothers day Caddis with the green egg clusters came off starting around 2:00 p.m.

Lets Not Be Awkward

Hey everybody, I'm Brett Wedeking, a new voice on here so I'll give you a quick introduction.

I'm a Gemini, love flowers and long wal... Oh wait, sorry, nevermind that last part. Keep reading.

I am a native of Seattle, WA and spent the last 11 years working, guiding, fly fishing and traveling for Creekside Angling Company and River Guides LLC, and longer than that chasing steelhead, trout, bass, permit, and anything else that has fins. I've recently relocated to the Bay Area with my fiance and and had to get a job to avoid the whole hobo thing.

Better late then never...

Well it's been a funky summer to say the least. With the incredible amount of rain and snow we had this year we were starting to think that the summer would never start. Now that water levels have settled the fishing is on fire.
