Fly Fishing Report - April, 2015

Fishing Report April, 2015

The Steelhead season is winding down...just not quite over yet.

The last storm got the coastal rivers back up. They started to drop into shape by early Monday of last week. Fishing started off pretty slow. We went two days and got two hook- ups. I think it was a combination of heavy pressure and basically there were just not a lot of fish around.. By mid week the options for good looking water increased. The fishing improved.. My last day we hooked 9. Mainly Kelts but we managed to find some Chrome......

Matt Heron's Brown - Fish of a lifetime video (Hilarious)

Matt Heron, a California guide caught the fish of a lifetime recently up in Tahoe. Apparently he was waiting for just the right moment to hook this fish, because he did so with a camera crew in tow. He definitely has a bit of a flair for the dramatic! Check out Matt's technique for landing the fish in the video below! Congrats Matt!

The Yuba River is on!

The Yuba River is finally down to just over 3,000 cfs. The guys have been hooking good numbers of fish to 22 inches on both dries and nymphs. This is a great time to get out and give the Yuba a go!

Feather River

Fished the Feather River @ Oroville today. 13 steelhead to 9 pounds to the net with one client in the boat. Sucker spawn in yellow and sz 14 PT's were the flies of choice. Good bite all day, most grabs were on the rise at the end of the drift.
