LEARN TO FLY FISH - CLASSES AND LESSONS

Learning to fly fish can be a little intimidating for many people. Some folks go out and try it on their own and get frustrated and quit, most others are just too intimidated to even try and really miss out on an enjoyable activity that takes you to some of the most beautiful places on the planet. At Off the Hook we think learning should be fun and are happy to help simplify learning to fly fish through one of two great options. We will help you reduce the frustration and bad habits associated with learning on your own. Our classes and on stream lessons get great reviews and are a fun and productive way of giving fly fishing a go. Our classes, lessons and gift certificates make great gifts!

FLY FISHING CLASSES

Our classes are based in the world renown Napa Valley. We are conveniently located in down town Napa and roughly an hour from San Francisco and Sacramento. We offer an engaging small class size setting where interaction is highly encouraged. We cover topics such as gear selection, entomology, fly selection, knots, reading the water, wading and fishing safety, using good catch and release practices, river etiquette, and casting. Classes consist of 3 hours of instruction and casting with breaks, snacks and course materials provided. Students often opt to take a class followed by an on the water guided lesson where they can put their new skills to the test.

Cost - $175 per person (class sizes are 2 to 8 students)

FLY FISHING LESSONS

We have found that one of the best way to learn something new is to seek professional instruction and then try it yourself with help and encouragement of a patient competent instructor. Our lessons cover much of the material from the classes however once students have a working knowledge of the material we tie on flies and guests can put their new skills to the test on the water. Options for lessons include beautiful streams, rivers and lakes where we target wild rainbow trout, bass and shad. A fun and productive lesson will avoid the frustration and bad habits of learning on your own. many folks choose to do a class followed by an on the water lesson with one of our guides as the best way to go about learning to fly fish. There is nothing like having a patient knowledgeable coach by your side to encourage you and help you hook and land your first fish on a fly rod. It is something you are not likely to soon forget.

Half day walk and wade guided trip/ lesson - $450 (1 or two students, 4 to 4 1/2 hours)

Half day guided float trip/lesson - $450 (1 or two students, 4 to 4 1/2 hours)

Half day charter trip/lesson - $500 (1 or two students, 4 1/2 to 5 hours)

Full day walk and wade guided trip/lesson $625 (1 or two students up to 8 hours with lunch provided)

Full day guided float trip/lesson $625 (1 or two students up to 8 hours with lunch provided)

Full day guide charter/lesson $650 (1 or two students up to 8 hours with lunch provided)
