It all began…

Off the Hook had its start back in 2001 over breakfast at Gillwoods Cafe in St. Helena in the Napa Valley.

Off the Hook started with friends over good eats!

Off the Hook started with friends over good eats!

It stemmed from four college graduate's love of the outdoors and an active lifestyle which had brought them together as far back as freshman year. Skiing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, skydiving, hiking and backpacking were some of the sports du jure back in those days. Fly fishing, travel, good food and making memories were some of the constants throughout the changing seasons and changing sports.

From this humble beginning and personal experiences traveling and fly fishing together the group developed skills and techniques for finding the very best fly fishing guides, fisheries and travel experiences possible the world over.

When Off the Hook officially opened its doors in 2006 it was our aim to provide our friends and clients with peace of mind and the very highest levels of customer service in guided fly fishing and travel. By listening to you our customers and your needs and preferences, we are able to provide the very best, most enjoyable and memorable experiences possible.

We choose to book only the very best guides and stand behind them. Because of this we offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on your guided day with us that is unheard of in our industry. Most guides on the fisheries we book do not make the cut. As a result of booking the best we are able to stand behind them and uphold the very highest level of customer service. This is evident in our high marks, great reviews and so many repeat customers.

Conservation is very important to us and we pioneered a program called Two% for Trout where 2% of the price of our guided trips go directly to conservation, preservation and restoration of the fisheries you experience with us. We even reward you for volunteer work and for sharing the word on Off the Hook with your friends.

Book with us and we guarantee that you will enjoy your time on the water, while learning valuable skills and techniques that will make you a better angler. In addition to the peace of mind that this brings with it you will be rewarded for doing your part to preserve and protect our fisheries. If our guides have it their way you will catch a bunch of fish as well! Finally, and most importantly for the long run, you will be investing in the future health of the planet’s fisheries. That is a win-win-win situation!
